House. Medina stone. On the Seton Tour in 1979 – Local Homes On Seton Tour Getting away from it all to idyllic spots in the country is the theme which unites the beautiful residences of this year’s Seton Tour of Homes, planned for June 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to benefit St. Mary’s Hospital. Six unusual homes along the Lake Road in Webster and Ontario have been selected by chairman … Mr. and Mrs. James Moran enjoy a spectacular view of Lake Ontario from their spacious, wood-paneled home, as do Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wilder, whose Medina sandstone home was designed by well known architect, Don Hershey.

Cynthia Howk of the Landmark Society says, The original house (demolished prior to building the current home on the property) “was a flat-roof, rectangular, east-west ‘box’  type residence, whose exterior walls were clad with random-laid stone (brown color, like sandstone). The most distinctive detail visible from the road were two, very large, picture windows – in opposite (north & south) walls. They allowed you to ‘look through’ the house, if you were viewing it from Lake Rd. A very attractive feature! The original garage survives, however, survives – out next to Lake Rd. You’ll see the walls are covered with ivy – so, the stone cladding on that two-car garage is only visible when you’re next to the garage, itself.”

Hershey had notes about it in his notebook. It said “No porch”. Then later it said “addition to Hreen House I did in ’40.” It was in a classified ad listed as a Don Hershey home on market in June 1982. Said “2.3 acre lot. Extra 4 available. Lighted tennis court. Sunken living room. 4 bedrooms, 3 baths.” In 1973 (or 1976) Hershey added a porch and bathroom to the home for Harvey Anderson.
